It was an honour to have Professor Sir Barry Cunliffe to cut the cake with our then Chairman, Pam Crowe, at our tenth anniversary celebrations in 2015
OUR LATE PRESIDENT, DAVID RUDKIN, WILL BE GREATLY MISSED
The Friends were very sad to learn of the death on 2 August 2021 of our much loved and greatly respected President, David Rudkin.
David read archaeology and prehistory at Sheffield University. He took the post-graduate certificate in Museum Studies at the University of Leicester, was appointed Keeper of Archaeology for Portsmouth City Museums, and was Hon Secretary of the Hampshire Archaeological Committee.
In 1979 David was appointed Director of Fishbourne Roman Palace. He made education a high priority and was awarded an Honorary MA by the university of Chichester in 2006. He retired in 2008 and consented to become President of the Friends, putting his knowledge and energy at our disposal. We shall be much the poorer without him.

History of the Friends
